Pizza Tropical at Gramps This tiny pizza window at Gramps makes one of the best New York-style pizzas in Miami. The best decision you’ll make after too many of Gramps’ famous Moscow Mules is a slice from Pizza Tropical. The second? Ordering it topped with sliced mushrooms (they don’t do the canned kind) and fresh basil. Pizza Tropical is only available for takeout, but that shouldn’t keep you from taking a fresh-baked slice home.

Pastis Miami is all the French we need in Wynood. Tucked away in its own little outdoor paradise they offer a range of classic french dishes with my favorite being the Pâté de Campagne. Never settle for anything less than an evening of great company, profiteroles and martinis, ma chère. 🍸

Harry’s Pizzeria Design District James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz slings pizza from Harry's locations in Coconut Grove and South Beach. A wood-burning oven puts out thin-crust pizzas using fresh dough and wheat flour (though a gluten-free option is also available). Go to town on the rock shrimp pizza with grilled lemon, buttery Manchego, scallions and ribbons of cilantro or a totally unique creation of roasted eggplant and harissa with a ribbon of sesame seeds along the crust. Time Out tip: The meatballs are a must-order side, along with the polenta fries with spicy ketchup.

AUTHENTIC INDIAN RASOI We recently had the pleasure of dining at Indian Rasoi in North Bay Village, and it was an exceptional experience! We started with the Samosas, which were crispy on the outside and filled with a deliciously spiced potato mixture. The Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, with tender pieces of chicken that melted in my mouth. The Garlic Naan was the perfect accompaniment, soft and flavorful. The service was top-notch; the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I also appreciated the variety of vegetarian options available, making it a great spot for everyone. Overall, Indian Rasoi offers a delightful dining experience with authentic flavors and excellent service. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine Indian cuisine!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Kan Sushi, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the modern and sleek decor, which set the tone for a sophisticated evening. The staff was warm and welcoming, presenting me with a comprehensive menu that offered a wide range of traditional and innovative sushi options. We opted for the all-you-can-eat menu, which proved to be an excellent value. The sushi was consistently fresh and expertly prepared, with standout dishes like the Hot Cheetos roll and crispy shrimp roll. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, with the staff happy to answer questions and make recommendations. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, making it an ideal spot for dates, group outings, or just a quick bite. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with Kan Sushi in Brickell and can’t wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!

Eleventh Street Pizza serves up two kinds of pies that both are stellar representations of their pizza genres. While a monster slice of NYC-style pep does a great job soaking up late-night drinking, the finest things here are thick Sicilian slices, big towers of dough covered with cupped pepperoni, wild maitake mushrooms with caramelized onions and a Provencal number with roasted red onions, confit garlic and pepperoncini. Time Out tip: The Japanese milk bread garlic rolls are both sweet and savory, so much so that you’ll probably want a second order for dessert.

The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables was built in 1926 by George Merrick, who is known as the founder of Coral Gables. After opening, the hotel quickly became a big deal, hosting fashion shows and galas, along with famous guests such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Al Capone and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Ghost stories began when gangster Thomas "Fatty" Walsh was shot and killed at a party there in 1929. During World War II, the Biltmore was turned into a military hospital. Once the war was over, it continued being a hospital for veterans. It was then completely abandoned from 1968 to 1983. Its storied history of murder, hospital occupancy and its abandonment led a resident guest to tell ghost stories to visitors every Thursday night in the Biltmore’s lobby for 10 years.

White Rose “Specialty coffee, tattoo lobby, working lounge & lifestyle café.” There’s one thing for sure about White Rose: You won’t find another coffee shop like it. The space is also home to Ocho Placas Tattoo Company, The Betancourt Gallery and Palm Film Lab, so you’ll see plenty of creative types weaving in and out at any hour of the day. The coffee shop is a hotbed for local brands: you could grab pair a gold milk latte with a box of Milly’s Empanadas or your Espresso Fino pour over with cookies from local bakers. They do some serious coffee art here too, although the sweet tooths out there should order the cafe bombon, a double shot with condensed milk.

Suite Habana Cafe Cuban coffee menus have gone largely unchanged in Miami for decades (Bustelo, white sugar, cow milk, you know the stuff). Suite Habana came onto the scene to change this. Owner Nayelis Delisle designed a blend based on memories of her sipping coffee with her abuela in post-revolution Cuba, sourcing beans from Brazil and Colombia to create a dark roast from memory. The espumita here is created with brown sugar, and you can get your cortados, cafe con leches (also iced!) with oat, almond or virtually any other kind of milk. The space is light and airy, filled with a healthy mix of friendly locals, curious travelers and yes, if you’re lucky, Joe Jonas.

Tinta y Café You can find everything we love about Coral Gables in Tinta y Café, which also has a location in Miami Shores. It’s quirky, local and deliciously Cuban, with a cozy midcentury vibe that’s both moody and light-filled. It’s also pretty laid-back and you can grab a legit Cuban coffee during the lunch rush without having to fight several elderly gentlemen, as well as delicious sandwiches that put a new spin on classics. Note: this is not the place to treat as your satellite office; there’s no wifi, and laptops are politely declined. This is, however, the perfect place to catch up with an old friend or take a break from the hustle.

At Fiola Miami, the marriage of exceptional food and wine is an art form. Their extensive, carefully curated wine list boasts a diverse selection of Italian and international labels, ensuring the ideal complement to your chosen pasta. For a contemporary and adventurous dining experience that will wow the in-laws, Kojin in Coral Gables is an excellent choice. This modern American restaurant with Japanese flair boasts a menu that’s both innovative and approachable, featuring dishes that showcase a masterful blend of fun flavors and textures.
