📍 AMBOY FAR EAST CENTER, DTLA
It’s the chef that created Egg Slut, the Filipino American egg sandwich connoisseur. His small shop in chinatown makes these specialty burgers and they’re insane!

For a special event, i also found his longanesa hot dog on the menu and sisig fries with calamansi! 🍊🍟

Beers was so special too. Paired so well with the meal. You can find this across from Amboy at La Sita and other stores and restaurants around LA. Two Filipino LA brothers brought this over from the Philippines and all the flavors are so good. I’m not usually a beer drinker but the Ube Lager was so unique! (They also have Honey and a Mango flavor).

Check them out for a taste of LA Filipino American innovation!

Chinese in West Hollywood! Modernized Dim Sum fa sho 😋 🥟
Ok, I have one traditional place for dim sum and it is in the SGV, it’s meant to family time and Sunday Breakfast. Soooo, West Hollywood + Dim Sum for dinner never went together in my mind.

Buutttttt, BAO DIM SUM HOUSE reinvented that. And I am here for it bc it’s actually good. Shiu Mai (we got chicken) was very hefty, Har Gow was shrimp filled with a light wrap, sauces on the table were on point and other items like Spare Ribs were prepared very traditionally.

Now, if you live in LA proper, you don’t always have to go to the valley for your dim sum fix 😋 🥟

TARTINE
If you are looking for a solid cafe for meetups with friends, brunch with the parents or a spot to work for a few hours - this is the all purpose place.

🥐 All of the pastries are excellent but I have a particular fondness for the seasonal cornmeal tea cake.
🍞 Whatever you order, do NOT skip their bread. Tartine’s country loaf is in regular rotation in my house.

JOSÉ ANDRÉS' RETURNS TO LOS ANGELES
The Bazaar: a vibrant mix of sophisticated cuisine!

José Andrés’ is excited to announce its return to Los Angeles with the opening of brand new restaurants in Downtown Los Angeles at The Grand LA and Conrad Los Angeles. Designed by the legendary Frank Gehry, architect of Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Grand LA represents the completion of his vision for Downtown Los Angeles.

The new 305-room Conrad Los Angeles, the contemporary luxury brand’s debut in California, will be home to two original concepts from ThinkFoodGroup. Located on the 10th floor arrival lobby and with sweeping views of downtown LA, a new open-air, rooftop dining destination will offer a Latin- and Asian-inspired menu, as well as a dedicated pool-side menu designed for light and leisurely snacking and sharing.

Kept things light w a citrus shrimp salad but then indulged in other great menu items. We went for lunch but it’s good for dinner dates tooooo 🤓

Donna’s LA: Upgraded Italian American classics in a fun, flower-bombed room in Echo Park.

Donna’s is inspired by an east coast, red sauce joint. The menu is made up of those Italian-American classics that you expect, but done really well with California ingredients. Here at Donna’s we’re loud and lively, with warm and familiar service. We’ll remind you what comfort feels like. And you’ll have the best night out (since the last time you were here).

Stowaway
This basement-level piano bar is subtly marked by a small arrow-shaped light at its entrance.

While lacking a traditional stage, the setting boasts a fairly grand ambiance, featuring a curving wood bar, a 7-foot grand piano, and a charmingly kitschy old oil painting portraying a reclining blond burlesque dancer. The menu offers indulgence with its selection of cocktails. Despite its subterranean setting, the venue’s wooden floors and high ceilings create an atmosphere that easily transports guests away from the basement vibe.

Roscoe’s Hollywood
Harlem native Herb Hudson opened this Hollywood staple in 1975, and their tasty soul food has been enjoyed by generations of Angelenos and celebrities including Shaquille O’Neil, Stevie Wonder, and Barack Obama. The menu goes beyond the staple chicken and waffles to include classics like corn bread, mac and cheese, and biscuits and gravy. The Hollywood location is open until 4am on weekend nights, but you’ll find a handful of other Roscoe’s outposts in L.A. that are serving food until midnight.

Broken Shaker is an elevated oasis in the heart of Downtown LA, located on top of the lovely Freehand Los Angeles.

Colorful, bright and buzzing, the rooftop comes surrounded with amazing and panoramic views over the Los Angeles skyline and the downtown area.
Open from noon to midnight, this is a venue to enjoy both sunny poolside hours, as well as fun filled evenings under the LA stars.

As a winner of Tales of the Cocktail’s Best American Hotel Bar award, it should be no surprise that Broken Shaker serves up delicious cocktails. While dips in the refreshing rooftop pool is reserved for guests staying at the hotel, anyone is welcome up to the rooftop for an abundance of drinks, vibes and views.

Ramen Akira is a newly opened modern ramen spot in Koreatown that brings amazing flavors in a bowl 🍜

✔️The server recommended the yuzu ramen, and I decided to be adventurous and try it. I was a bit worried it would be too citrusy, but the broth was super creamy with a subtle hint of yuzu 🍊 I definitely recommend trying it if you want to experience something different! :)

✔️I wanted to eat outside cause of their super cute patio, but it was way too hot 😭 I’ll be definitely back to enjoy the patio 👀🌸
