Downtown LA Recommendations: Trending Secrets & Local Reviews

I’ve completely lost faith in men. Today, I asked myself: What am I doing wrong? When men invite me on dates, we go to cafes, restaurants, stroll around the city, drink coffee, play tennis, go to the movies, visit museums. We talk, we laugh — the meetings are always fun. But there’s no intimacy. I don’t go to their place, and I don’t invite them to mine. We spend time in neutral spaces. I don’t burden them with expectations like “a man should…” So, what’s wrong? I don’t get it. What do you men want? Honestly, I feel like telling you all to just fuck off!

Gluten Free Girls LA
Kitchen Mouse - the small bakery around the corner from the main restaurant has TONS of gluten free sweets, pastries, bagels and to go food (gf lentil shepards pie and gf lasagna etc). They offer vegan options like just egg or regular egg as it’s a vegetarian restaurant. In the past, I have tried the gluten-free bagels (amazing), gluten-free coffee cake and cookies (also amazing). Today I got the French berry pastry -the vanilla custard was AMAZING. The crust was a great texture but was more like a sugar cookie formed as a tart than a butter tart. I would definitely recommend trying it if you like custard and sugar cookies.

AS YOU LIKE IT by William Shakespeare at Independent Shakespeare Fest! Fall in love this summer with our As You Like It, a screwball romantic comedy with songs inspired by 1930’s crooner, Al Bowlly. Irrepressible cousins, Rosalind and Celia, fall afoul of the Duke, and make their escape into the Forest of Arden. There, they discover a world of vivid characters and romantic possibilities. When class and gender boundaries shatter, they discover both themselves and a beguiling truth: transformation is always possible. In the hour before the performance, you’re invited to explore the world of the play during an immersive prologue. There, you will have the opportunity to interact with characters as well as learn a few secrets. Once the play begins, you’ll get cozy in your spot and enjoy one of Shakespeare’s most heartfelt and witty comedies. Be advised: although audience members of all ages are welcome and encouraged to come, Shakespeare’s plays all deal with the adult themes that invariably arise in human relationships, and include allusions to both sexuality and violence. This production contains no nudity nor graphic violence. It does however include shameless flirting, double entendres, and may make you want to get up and dance. July 10 - September 1 Wednesday - Sunday @ 7:00 pm
