Muchacho
The finishes are so polished at this University Park spot, you would be justified in worrying about the food. With a longhorn mounted on the wall, furry throws, and branded leather placemats, Muchacho looks too fancy to be proper Tex-Mex. But it is.
The chips are big, vivid yellow, and clearly fresh-fried. The salsa verde has a soft touch of heat. And dishes like brisket flautas are very good indeed. (Those flautas come with guacamole, sour cream, morita salsa, and a scene-stealing radish salad. The salad’s on top of the flautas, so move it before they get soggy.) Much of the menu is given over to taco plates and family-style fajitas rather than more traditional Tex-Mex combos.
