New Art in NYC: Flower Market Stop in and “Pick” a complimentary plush flower keepsake from a stunning 120-foot by 40-foot greenhouse at the FDR Four Freedoms State Park. This vibrant installation, filled with 100,000 (!) beautifully crafted plush flowers, is inspired by the natural beauty and botanicals featured in Clé de Peau Beauté products. The creation is the work of renowned artist Cj Hendry, celebrated for her large-scale artistic endeavors. ARTIST: 🎨CJ Hendry WHEN: ⏰September 13 – September 15, 10am - 4pm. TICKETS: 🎟️ FREE and open to the public! Each attendee receives one flower for FREE. Each additional flower is $5. GOOD TO KNOW: 📕All ages welcome! Twenty Three Years 💙 Tribute in Light is a commemorative public art installation presented every year from dusk to dawn, on the night of September 11th. It has become an iconic symbol that both honors those lost and celebrates the unbreakable spirit of New York. The installation consists of twin beams that reach four miles into the sky, and are comprised of 88 7,000-watt xenon light bulbs positioned into two 48-foot squares; echoing the shape and orientation of the Twin Towers. WHERE: 📍The lights are assembled on the roof of the Battery Parking Garage south of the 9/11 Memorial. The installation can be viewed from a 60-mile radius around lower Manhattan. WHEN: ⏰ The display will be illuminated from dusk until dawn on the night of September 11. Organizers have been testing the lights this week - they have been on for short time periods several evenings, ahead of the event. GOOD TO KNOW: 📕The tribute is also extended across the city with over 30 landmarks also lighting up in blue. Participating buildings include the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, the Helmsley Building, the Bank of America Tower, Barclays Bank US Headquarters, One Vanderbilt, and many more.

FIRST LOOK: Serendipity3 Opening 💗 Times Square just got a whole lot sweeter! The iconic New York City restaurant (and home of the world-famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate!) has opened a second location. In addition to all the favorite menu items of the original location, the menu has special additions such as the Chicken Dinner Sundae, two new sandwiches, three new ice cream flavors, and more. The new location also features a bar area with over-the-top cocktails, AND a full dessert bar. The new space is similar in size to the original restaurant space, and reminiscent of the same fun and funky look - including glass mosaic installations. Bonus- you may even see Marin Monroe and Andy Warhol. A perfect spot for your next serendipitous moment.

Feast of Fun 🇮🇹 The feast is back! The San Gennaro festival returns again on the 12th of September to the streets of Little Italy. This marks its 98th year. Come hungry! This 10-day celebration is NYC’s most popular and longest running street fairs, and is well known for its delicious food and party atmosphere. The celebration includes parades and processions, live musical entertainment, carnival games, rides, and amusements, food delicacies, and most importantly, dining at Little Italy’s famous restaurants and cafes. WHEN: ⏰Thursday September 12 through Sunday September 22. FREE to walk the festival. Food and carnival rides have a fee. (Bring cash!) DONT MISS: 📕The Grand Procession parade featuring marching bands, floats, revelers and the statue of San Gennaro. The parade happens on Sept 14th at 2pm. FOR KIDS: 🎈After you fill those bellies, head over to the carnival rides and games that are set up specifically for the event. There are typically 4-5 rides offered. Rides change slightly each year, but there is always a Ferris wheel! Visit at night to see the Ferris wheel glow in rainbow hues.

Once Upon a Time 📚🦢 Is this the most unique theme park in the world? Welcome to Storybook Land – a whimsical theme park based on Nursery Rhymes & Classic Children’s tales, located in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. A short drive from the city – this fantasy of characters, rides, and figures is one not to miss with kids. As you walk through the wooded grounds, you encounter dozens of characters from classic children’s tales. If you can name it, its represented here – either by show, ride or attraction; such as Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Jack & Jill with their hill, and Humpty Dumpty before he takes his spill. Storybook Land has 17 rides in total, and range from carousels and gentle slow rides, to small roller-coasters and spinning creatures best for slightly older kids. What makes Storybook Land unique are the animated vignettes. Here you push a button and watch a story come alive where characters sing and dance with movement. A few highlights: 📕The Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe (yes, you can walk inside!) 📕The Three Little Pigs homes: Brick, sticks and straw. 📕Moby Dick – step inside for a fun surprise! 📕The “rabbit hole” at Alice in Wonderland - a neon black light cave that ends with a card maze 📕Storybook Seaport – a small spray ground, is open in the summer. 📕The North Pole (yes that is real ice!) and say hi to Mr&Mrs Claus and their reindeer. 📕Mother Goose is the park’s icon and she watches over the entrance. NYC SECRET: Tennis Court in Grand Central Station🎾 Did you know that you can play tennis on a hidden court within Grand Central Terminal? Vanderbilt Tennis is one of NYC’s best kept secrets. It’s open to the public, and offers kids classes! It doesn’t get more New York than this. Here you will find a one-of-a-kind single court, featuring Grand Central’s iconic arch window overlooking Park Avenue. The stunning court is regulation sized and made of US Open grade “Deco-Turf”. There are also 2 practice courts on the upper level, which have an automated ball machine that can be programmed to your level. The practice court also has a retrieval system (no need to pick the balls up!). The court and practice courts can be rented in a variety of ways - including for private court time, lessons or group lesson sessions. Children’s group lessons start at age 3.

Planet Playskool is officially open, and it is a must-visit! Planet Playskool is a game changer for family entertainment. It’s the perfect mix - a nostalgic (beloved!) memory for parents, and an innovative new way to play for kids. The design is brilliant and beautifully created, with over 20,000 square feet of fun! The larger-than-life attractions are inspired by your favorite Hasbro toys: Play-Doh, PJ Masks, Mouse Trap, Spirograph, Tinkertoy, Transformers, and more. (I still can’t get over the giant Mouse Trap!). Here’s a few favorites: •Build your own Tinkertoy car and race it down a track •Climb, crawl and slide through a life-size version of Mouse Trap •Hop on a bike for a wild ride with Transformers •Mold your own figure and watch it come alive at the Play-Doh Theater •And SO MUCH MORE Hungry? Hidden Gem in NYC - Chinese Scholar’s Garden 🌳 Summer is the perfect time to explore some of the city’s fabulous gardens. One of New York City’s greatest hidden gems is the Chinese Scholar’s Garden, located at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden in Staten Island. The design is based on gardens from the Ming Dynasty in China, and one of the few authentic gardens that were built in America. All the materials you see here (including the rocks and the tiles on the floor!) were made or sourced in China. The Chinese Scholar Garden has much to explore! There are eight pavilions, three ponds with koi fish, a waterfall, and many picturesque areas, including the unique shaped doorways seen on this clip. It’s a treasure. Why a hidden gem? Because It’s hard to find it! The NYCSG is behind a stone wall and not visible from the road. To get to the entrance you must walk through a cottage. The sign marking this is small and easy to miss. It truly is hidden!

Have you ever walked through the Midtown Manhattan Waterfall? Tucked into a small pocket park between buildings, you’ll find this gorgeous waterfall pathway. The water feature is 20 feet tall and 40 feet wide, and is partially housed in plexiglass. The 17 foot-long glass tunnel runs beneath the waterfall, creating a water covered tubular path. The sound from the water is soothing, and walking through the tube is exciting, especially for kids. (Bonus: the tube makes it easy to walk between 48th and 49th streets quickly!). Only a block from Times Square’s bustling traffic, it’s a calming escape in the middle of Midtown Manhattan. PRICE: 🎟Free & Open to the Public

Metropolis in Miniature 🌆 Headed to see Serena at the Open? Make plans to swing by this incredible Panorama, located just steps from the arena’s main entrance. The Panorama of the City of New York is located at the Queens Museum, and known famously across the globe. The “helicopter tour of New York without the helicopter” was created as a celebration of the City’s infrastructure for the 1964 World’s Fair. Built by a team of more than 100 people over the course of three years, this MASSIVE metropolis comprises an area of over 9,335 square feet and built to a 1:1200 scale (where one inch equals 100 feet). Each of the city’s 895,000 buildings (constructed prior to 1992) and every street, park and over 100 bridges are represented and assembled onto sections, comprising the 320 square miles of New York City. Can you find Manhattan? It measures 70 x 15 feet (!!). The king of the skyline, the Empire State Building is a towering 15 inches tall while the Statue of Liberty is only 1-7/8 inches in height. The panorama is outfitted with a lighting cycle that circulates from dawn to dusk to night. Other special effects include moving airplanes that take off and land at LaGuardia Airport every few minutes. It’s truly spectacular and a fascinating visit for all ages. TICKETS: 🎟Free entry! Hidden Waterfall in NYC 💦 Looking for a shady and cool place to relax in this heat? Head to this secret waterfall retreat. Greenacre Park is a hidden gem located in Midtown Manhattan. The privately owned/open to the public park has a 25-foot waterfall, ample multi-level seating, and thanks to trees and the neighboring buildings - its almost always shady (and cool!). With a cafe onsite, its the perfect place to grab a bite. As the waterfall is tucked away and not easily visible from the street, its a fun surprise for little ones to learn of this “secret” waterfall in the city. WHEN: ⏰Open daily 8am - 8pm
