Pasta e Basta is a cozy Italian restaurant in Midtown that you already know we love.
This time we stopped by to try their new brunch menu and we’re what you need to know 👇🍝

Their menu currently offers a variety of paninis and pasta trios, perfect for sharing and for those who always want a little bit of everything 👀

We kicked off our meal with the Panino Polpette e Mozzarella, but the Trio Romano stole the show.

For $69 you get this pasta tower that includes Rigatoni Carbonara, Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe and Rigatoni Amatriciana. And the best part? You can now customize your own trio for $79.

For dessert we had the Nutella crepes and the tiramisu which is always🔥

PS: If you’re brave enough to dine with a toddler they’ve got a kids menu too and a whole lot of patience ❤️

JAGUAR SUN Downtown

Jaguar Sun is probably our favorite place in Miami. Some may say it’s a cocktail bar, others, a restaurant with an awesome pasta selection. We’d like to think of it as a combination of both. And there’s something about the vibe that makes you want to chat with the person next to you.

Our favorite dishes include the Hokkaido Scallop, the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with the most delish charred leek aioli, Agnolotti with blue crab, and the Spicy Rigatoni. Make sure to ask if there are any new dishes or off-menu items, sometimes they’ll have something to share with you. Leave room for a Wolf Whistle, their version of a tequila espresso martini paired with dessert.

MIAMI’S BEST RESTAURANT WITH “AMBIENTE”
Where the vibe is more important but the food is still good

The iconic NYC staple, Pastis, expanded its presence from the Meatpacking District to the vibrant neighborhood of Wynwood. The restaurant stays true to its New York roots, offering the same menu filled with classic Parisian bistro-style dishes and an incredible ambiance that won’t make you feel like you’re in Miami.

You’re heading here for a chic lunch or dinner and sitting at their gorgeous outdoor patio decorated with ceiling fans, red patio umbrellas, and twinkly lights. We’d start with some drinks (of course), if you’re a spritz person looking to relax, start your meal with their St. Tropez Spritz made with St. Germain, lemon, aperitif, sparkling wine, and strawberries. But if you’ve had a long day (or week) then kick off your meal with a tiny Le Petit Pickle martini.

As for the food, we like to start with a few hors d’oeuvres for the table. We usually go for the Tuna Carpaccio with lemon vinaigrette, Escargots with garlic-parsley butter, Onion Soup, and Crispy Artichokes with garlic aioli. Moving on to the entrées we love their Chicken Paillard with almonds and picholine olives, and we always love to get an order of the Moules Frites with white wine and garlic for the table (don’t forget to dip the bread in the sauce). If you still have a little room, the grand finale is the airy Profiteroles, delicately filled with velvety smooth vanilla ice cream, and generously drizzled with warm chocolate sauce.

Stop by Amal, when you’re in the mood to dress up.
The menu focuses on modern Lebanese dishes created by Chef Wissman Baki. This is a great spot to send your Mom with her group of amigas chismositas, because it’s one of those restaurants where you want to picar y probar un poquito de todo! Think dips, cold and hot mezze, skewers, and more. Plus, they can continue their salidita with a few drinks after their meal at its rooftop bar, Level6.

The space is so freaking gorgeous. We honestly wouldn’t mind our house looking like this. Imagine, sandy interiors with earth tones like rose and terracotta. They’ve also incorporated small palm trees throughout the restaurant to give it a touch of Miami. We could live here because it’s so pretty but also because the food is fresh and tasty.

This is a diner for Miami. And yes, it includes a ventanita.
If you’re going with one other person, the best seat in the house is at the bar. If it’s a group we’d sit inside at one of their booths or outside for people-watching. You can pretty much stop by Chug’s at any time of the day for an all-day breakfast experience. It’s also a great option for Saturday and Sunday.

This is the meal you deserve when craving a hearty breakfast, it’s also a great spot for a work meeting.

Order the best Cast Iron Pancake (these may take up to 25 mins to come out of the kitchen), slow-cooked in clarified butter and warm maple syrup with an order of Beltran’s Bacon, thick steak cut bacon with smoked maple syrup.

Chug’s is open Monday – Wednesday from 7:30 AM – 3 PM, Thursday – Saturday from 7:30 AM – 10 PM, and Sunday from 7:30 AM – 7 PM.

You planned your workout on a Saturday morning, so you can stop by El Bagel after.

The earlier you pass by the gym, the better, for El Bagel. They open at 8 AM and close at 2 PM, however, they often sell out of bagels! You can pre-order for pick-up to avoid waiting in line.

You’re either taking the bagels home or if the weather permits, eating them on the outdoor deck (they have seating in the front and also in the back).

If you want to keep it simple, go for their salt bagel with scallion cream cheese (vegan option available). Other amazing sandwich orders include the Lox Supreme with locally-smoked lox, English cucumber, dill, pickled onion, tomato, capers, and cream cheese; and the open-face Midday Snack with chives, red onion, and Lox cream cheese. Make sure to add smoked trout roe as an upgrade. Sometimes they have bagel specials, like the Garlique, which sounds divine.

El Bagel is also a great spot to pick up before heading to work or for pick up before heading back to bed. They are open 8 AM – 2 PM every day except Tuesday.

Right next to a railroad crossing, you’ll arrive at an unpretentious and minimalistic house. Immediately when entering OGAWA, you’ll feel as if you’ve landed in Japan.

Tucked away in Little River, Alvaro Perez has opened his fourth and newest Japanese restaurant that just earned a well-deserved Michelin Star.
As you turn the corner of the dining room, you will be met with the most impeccably set Omakase bar. Feel free to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in their peaceful Japanese garden in the back or take a seat, and get ready for Chef Masayuki and Chef Royce’s thoughtful Omakase journey.

At Ogawa intimacy and ‘kikubari’ (the Japanese art of caring for others) are valued at the highest level. This very personal dinner experience for 11 guests at a time focuses on seasonal and unique Japanese ingredients flown in daily. The first part consists of crudos with cooked dishes from the kitchen between each course. Next, you’ll move on to the most incredible sushi flight, followed by a miso soup, and finish off with desserts (that’s not a typo, there’s more than one).

Our favorite dishes when we went included the best Hotate Nigiri we’ve seriously ever had, balanced with a touch of Key lime and salt (we literally won’t shut up about it); the Ensui Hokkaido Uni Gunkanmaki which is preserved in salt water so you can taste the Uni right from its natural habitat; the Uni and Ikura Hand Roll; and a special shout out to the Matcha Mochi Cookie Anko with Satsumaimo (Japanese sweet potato) Ice Cream by Chef Jamie, picture your childhood Whoopie Pie but soooooo much better.

The new Caracas Bakery located in MiMo is a great spot for a casual breakfast after the gym.
We’d linger after breakfast, and stay working here. It’s even great for a breakfast meeting. And we’d also bring our friends from out of town to this spot.

Caracas is a French-inspired bakery and cafe, with a hint of Venezuelan. We love the industrial feel of the bakery balanced out with softer wood finishes that remind us of Japanese bakeries.
They offer different croissants (sweet and savory), pastries, breakfast toasts, eggs, cachitos (a Venezuelan must), and more. If you’re going for the cachitos, stop by earlier. These do sell out.

Try their newer croissant flavors, like the salmon and cream cheese or the turkey and cheese. If you’re looking for a hearty sandwich, try the BEC with soft scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, and cheddar cheese served in their sweet potato bun or the BLT.

Caracas Bakery is open Tuesday – Saturday from 8 AM – 4 PM. On Sunday they close at 3 PM.

FLOUR & WEIRDOUGHS
Keep this handy when you’re looking for the best breakfast spot in Miami.

It’s also a great place to work from. There’s indoor seating and it’s pretty quiet during weekdays, after the morning rush. So, if you live in Brickell, you work from home and need a break from your apartment. Cross the bridge, you’ll be in bakery heaven in 10 to 15 minutes.

Flour and Weirdoughs is a rustic bakery that mills its flour in-house. All their sourdough breads are organic and filled with nutrients. If you’re looking for a ready-to-go breakfast item, we’d go for their eggs deep danish with eggs, bacon, and cheese; a simple basic AF croissant (yes, that’s the name), ham and cheese croissant, or their famous It’s brisket b*tch croissant named after Britney Spears that comes with provolone, grain mustard, cured brisket (they cure it in-house for 11 days). And let’s just say, this is our favorite croissant in Miami.

The island of Key Biscayne is lucky to have what we think is the best bakery in Miami. Technically it’s not a restaurant, but it’s home to our favorite croissants and sourdough bread. Luckily for you, Flour and Weirdoughs is the spot to come before the beach with your friends or family on the weekends too.
