Delicious Discoveries in LA: My Experience at Community Goods!

Influenced to try Community Goods while in LA and so glad I did. Hopefully we’ll see them back in Miami for another pop-up soon 👀 Hands down one of the best iced matcha lattes - added their vanilla syrup + oat milk. The sliders were so pillowy and much lighter than I expected (thankfully) and the sauces!!! Herb Aioli and a sweet and sour hot sauce. The pistachio toast though, was just the cherry on top! Think Nutella but pistachio no chocolate, fresh nuts and honey on a rustic bread. Chefs kiss ✨ I got there super early on a weekday just after opening to avoid any famed hour long lines and had a lovely #slowmorning on their patio 🍵

The nations largest hawker stall = Smorgasburg LA! I like to come here bc it’s always summer vibes and you get all of LA’s most viral food trucks in one place. Gives a major platform to small businesses and gives me a unique experience every time. I come for food, beverages, local artistry and sun. Bring water and hats for sun protection bc it’s a large parking lot and all the asphalt makes it hot there ☀️ 🧢 🧴 💦

Exploring the Local Art Scene in Pasadena

Pasadena, a picturesque city just outside of Los Angeles, offers an eclectic blend of vibrant local art scenes that reflect its rich cultural heritage. With its sprawling art galleries, stunning murals, and various community-driven art events, Pasadena stands out as a hidden gem for art enthusiasts. The curated mix of established institutions and up-and-coming galleries makes it a must-visit destination for anyone eager to explore contemporary and classical art alike.

Discovering Trending Galleries in Pasadena

One of the focal points of Pasadena’s art landscape is the array of trending galleries that dot the city. The Norton Simon Museum, though well-known, continues to surprise visitors with rotating exhibitions and a substantial collection of European masterpieces and Asian sculptures. The Armory Center for the Arts, situated in Old Town Pasadena, serves as a dynamic hub offering contemporary exhibits and educational programs, making it one of the local favorites.

For those seeking unique, cutting-edge work, check out Project 23 Art Studio. This newly popular gallery delivers an avant-garde experience, hosting works from local artists who are pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. Another must-visit is the Offramp Gallery, an artist-run space that showcases a diverse range of contemporary works from both emerging and established artists. These galleries reflect the innovative and vibrant essence of Pasadena’s local art scene.

Exciting Art Events to Mark on Your Calendar

The calendar in Pasadena is brimming with art events that attract enthusiasts from all over the Greater Los Angeles area. The Pasadena Chalk Festival, held annually in June, transforms the streets into a colorful canvas where artists create stunning ephemeral works using chalk. This family-friendly event is perfect for admiring the skills of talented street artists while engaging in community fun.

Just as noteworthy is ArtNight Pasadena, a biannual event where local museums and galleries open their doors for free, offering visitors an evening filled with art exhibits, music, and performances. Locations like Pasadena City Hall and the Pasadena Museum of California Art host special events and exhibitions, showcasing the city’s thriving art culture. These events not only highlight the talents of local artists but also foster a sense of community and exploration among Pasadena’s residents and visitors.

Hidden Gems and Local Insights

Beyond the well-known galleries and events, Pasadena is teeming with hidden gems that are treasured by locals. The folk art installation known as “The Bunny Museum” may seem quirky on the surface but offers an intriguing deep dive into thematic art through its extensive collection of rabbit-related items. For a more traditional experience, the vibrant murals throughout the city add a splash of color to everyday commutes. The murals on Colorado Boulevard, for instance, depict the history and culture of Pasadena in a way that larger institutions might not.

Another under-the-radar spot is the Pasadena Playhouse Village. It offers not just theatrical performances but also art exhibitions that often fly under the mainstream radar. Local artists frequently use this venue to debut new pieces, providing a fresh and constantly evolving art experience. Additionally, the Pasadena Antique Center & Annex is a trove for antique art lovers, featuring rare and vintage art pieces that add charm to any collection.

The Role of Community in Pasadena's Art Scene

The community plays a monumental role in fostering the local art scene in Pasadena. Community art centers, like Side Street Projects, provide a platform for artists to collaborate, innovate, and share their work with the public. These centers are instrumental in nurturing new talent and maintaining the cultural vitality of the city. The open studios days are a particular highlight, offering the public an intimate glimpse into the creative processes of resident artists.

Moreover, the bustling Pasadena Farmers Market isn’t just a place for fresh produce but also features local artisans selling handcrafted goods— a perfect example of the blend of art and community spirit. Here you can often find handmade ceramics, jewelry, and paintings, each with its unique story and craftsmanship.
