A vegan and a meat-eater enter a plant-based Ethiopian restaurant. A couple of hours later, they both leave completely satisfied—and with the newfound knowledge that vegan nacho cheese is far superior to the real (fake) stuff. Such miracles can happen at the second location of Ras Plant Based in Greenwich Village. The menu here is essentially the same as their original spot in Crown Heights, except for the injera nachos, which you must order, because that’s where that melty vegan cheese comes into play. Add on a few cocktails and a mercato platter, with lots of spongy injera for scooping up creamy ground chickpeas, and you’ve got a feast for friends who love legumes, and those who'd normally rather be eating meat.

Restaurant Week Recap🍴 🍽Where I went: Pig & Khao ✔️What I got: Pork Belly Adobo, Khao Soi, Jasmine Rice, Ricotta Donuts 💰What I paid: ~$45 ⠀ 🤔What I think: For restaurant week this summer I went to Pig & Khao! They were offering dinner for $45 with 3 courses + Rice! The portion sizes were HUGE! In fact I had leftovers for 2 meals.. they also offered a cocktail tasting ($30) where you get a different cocktail for each course.. the cocktails were very unique, would recommend checking them out! Undoubtedly the best thing I ate from here was the Ricotta Donuts 🥰🤩 if you go here, that is a must try for sure!

Time Out New York
Backyard Oyster Roast There are only five weeks until society tells you that it’s no longer socially acceptable to wear white and pumpkin spice is everywhere. So it’s time to make the most of the next few weeks, and what better way to bask in the summer heat than stuffing your face with oysters and Aperol spritzes? This Sunday, July 28, from noon to 4pm, The Noortwyck is hosting its second event for its Summer Series. The West Village American restaurant is pairing up with Popina, an Italian eatery, to bring you an “elevated oyster roast” and backyard barbecue. Popina, the host of the event, is right on the Columbia Waterfront in Cobble Hill, with a gorgeous view of the Manhattan skyline and a garden patio with lots of seating. It’s the recipe for a perfect summer’s Sunday in Brooklyn. Highlights of Sunday’s offerings include Peeko Grilled Oysters with nduja butter, roasted Jimmy Nardello peppers with grilled carrots and spiced labneh and Elote with szechuan pepper and black lime. Alongside the buffet will be an extensive wine list, a Spritz bar by Aperol & Campari, live music and beer from Threes Brewing.

Son Del North In places like Los Angeles, it’s much easier to find burritos without rice: Not so much in New York. Son del North opened last month, a tiny takeout counter that’s already cementing itself as a welcomed addition to New York’s burrito scene, thanks in part to its homemade Sonora-style flour tortillas. The kitchen is under the direction of Annisha Garcia, from Tijuana, Mexico, who was the 2021 Chopped Grand Champion.

The Most Fun Dinner Spot In NYC Kisa: a night out at this restaurant will never be boring. Don’t spend half your meal trying to figure out what to order and how to split your check. Go to Kisa, a walk-in-only retro Korean diner on the Lower East Side where you choose from four combo sets, all of which cost $32 and come with soup, rice, and a buffet of bottomless sides. The bulgogi is slightly sweet and sliced into ribbons, and the spicy pork, with its crispy charred bits, is even better. Enjoy it alongside some kimchi and mung bean jelly in the packed room while groups pass around soju before hitting the coin-operated latte machine by the entrance.

Gluten Free Girls LA
SOGNO TOSCANO SPECIALTY FOODS - one of the best places I have spent a Sunday afternoon in a long time. Live music on the cozy patio, attentive helpful staff and incredible food. Spent an hour and a half enjoying our food and conversation and we’re not rushed out.. a luxury to have these days. They also have soups and multiple salads that are gluten free (just be sure to ask the wonderful wait staff). Among their House beaked pastries they have one clearly marked gluten free banana bread (I did not ask about others). They also had multiple desserts that were naturally gluten free (gelato, crème brûlée etc.).

Really hoping @elizabethstreetgarden will be saved! It’s such a beautiful green oasis in the middle of Nolita… If you didn’t already know, they have an ongoing battle against the city and developers who want to turn this public community garden space into a rental and retail development. The garden is the only real green space in Little Italy, hosting hundreds of free public programs such as live music, poetry, movie nights, public school educational workshops, yoga and tai chi. It is entirely run by volunteers.

Lucia Pizza of Soho This is New York, which means you don’t have to settle for a mediocre slice of pizza late at night—instead, you can get one of the best slices. Lucia Pizza's Soho location is open until 3am, Thursday through Saturday (1am during the winter months), and even if you're stumbling and bleary-eyed, you’ll appreciate the moment they take to shower your pizza with basil and parm. There are a lot of standout slices here, so we recommend getting a few—something with red sauce, then also the vodka sauce slice, or the creamed spinach one. It's 350 feet from the A/C at Canal Street, in case that's your next move.
