Celebrating 60 Years of the Century City Shopping Center From the debut of the Music Center downtown to the construction of the new LACMA on the Miracle Mile, Los Angeles was on a building boom in 1964. An entire new district came online in Century City, transforming 176 acres on the westside into offices, shops, and a grand hotel. The city was in the midst of creating epic monuments in what some observers have called the era of ‘Imperial Los Angeles.’ At the same time that L.A. art and culture were elevated to new heights, Century City debuted its landmark shopping center, now operated by Westfield, which is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary October 12-13.

Unveiling Brentwood's Best Local Cocktail Bars
When it comes to enjoying finely crafted cocktails in Brentwood, near LA, locals have several well-kept secrets up their sleeves. This suburban neighborhood isn't only about quiet streets and upscale shops; it's also a haven for some of the most captivating cocktail bars. A visit to these local cocktail spots offers a blend of superb mixology and an intimate, cozy atmosphere unparalleled in larger neighboring areas.
Whispered Treasures: Must-Try Local Cocktail Bars
Among the local favorites is **The Alchemist's Den**, known for its unexpected elixirs and esoteric atmosphere. Nestled inconspicuously on Wilshire Blvd, this bar offers a hidden world where imaginative cocktails cater to the city's in-the-know drinkers. Don't miss out on their "Smoky Mystique," a signature concoction that pairs mezcal with charred rosemary.
Another gem is **The Velvet Room**, situated just a few blocks away from the Brentwood Country Club. This classic bar provides an elegant domain with plush seating and a meticulously curated cocktail menu. Regulars rave about the "Violet Fizz," a vibrant, purple-hued drink infused with floral notes and a hint of citrus.
Trending Rooftop Bars with Breathtaking Views
For those who appreciate a spectacular view alongside their cocktails, Brentwood's rooftop bars offer an enticing mix of ambience and altitude. **The Sky Lounge** is one of the trending hotspots in the area. Located atop a luxury hotel, this rooftop haven provides panoramic views of LA’s skyline. Stylish yet relaxed, The Sky Lounge is famed for its "Sunset Mule" — a refreshing take on the classic Moscow Mule, garnished with a sprig of fragrant mint.
**Celestial Heights** is another standout, drawing locals with its chic minimalist decor and impressive drink selection. It plays host to a discerning crowd who come for the "Celestial Spritz," a delightful medley of Aperol, prosecco, and a touch of elderflower liqueur, creating a drink that's as mesmerizing as the night sky it celebrates.
Intimate and Unique Nightlife Experiences
Despite its reputation as a more laid-back residential area, Brentwood offers some compelling nightlife experiences. **Moonlit Meadow** is a lesser-known enclave where the magic of the night comes alive. This venue's allure lies in its quaint, garden-inspired setting paired with a sophisticated cocktail list. Patrons often recommend the "Midnight Bloom," a floral and fruity explosion that perfectly complements the serene environment.
Another spot worth noting is **The Enchanted Oak**, tucked away in a quiet corner near San Vicente Blvd. This bar is infamous for its mysterious yet inviting ambiance and signature drink, "The Enchanted Elixior," which combines bourbon, maple syrup, and a splash of apple cider for a festive twist.
Locals' Pick: Uncover Hidden Bar Gems
Hidden gems frequented by Brentwood locals include **The Arcane Asylum**, which offers a more secluded and intimate setting. Here, inventive cocktails are paired with captivating stories from the bartenders. The most buzzworthy drink here is the "Ancient Remedy," a potion-like mix that brings together ginger, lime, and a unique blend of herbal spirits.
**The Ivy Parlor**, with its eclectic Victorian decor, is another beloved establishment among residents. Known for the "Garden of Eden," a cocktail that features fresh fruit and flower garnishes, The Ivy Parlor provides an immersive experience that transports guests to another era, all while delighting their taste buds.
