Halloween revelers of all ages—and all species—will descend upon the Meatpacking District on Saturday, for the area's annual Halloween celebration, Treats in the Streets.

From 11am to 6pm, the west side neighborhood will offer all treats and no tricks at participating restaurants and businesses, including pumpkin ring toss, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, cornhole, pumpkin painting Halloween mask making, spooky storytime readings and plenty of sweet treats, including mini dipped croissants from Maman, Petrossian chocolates and signature tea, Halloween cookies from RIVIAN, mini apple cider donuts at The Standard, High Line and more.

And, of course, Treats in the Streets' headlining event will return: the Meatpacking District’s 6th Annual Doggie Costume Contest, taking place on Gansevoort Street and Ninth Avenue. After both pups and their owners strut down the runway showing off their costumed best, a panel of judges will decide the top three looks of the day. The winner will receive an overnight stay at The Standard, High Line, while all three finalists will take home a personalized pet portrait by artist Laura Baran.

Escape to the italian countryside without leaving Manhattan.
The most beautiful spring brunch is at Olio e Più | Trattoria & Enoteca this weekend. Pasta, pizza, and aperol spritz! The best way to start off the season. 🍝

PIER 97 is NOW OPEN at Hudson River Park: New York City’s newest recreational and lounging green space!!!
Designed by !melk, Pier 97 features a playground with water spray features, a synthetic turf field, a sloping sun lawn, sculptural shade structures, an elevated walkway with seating, an “all-ages” slide and a sunset deck complete with bistro tables, chaise lounges and two-tiered walls with seating. The pier also features flexible gathering areas surrounded by flowers and plants to provide space for organized or impromptu events.

History: Hudson River Park’s northernmost pier was built between 1921 and 1934, and then served for decades as the hub for the Swedish America Line. While it remained an active dock through the 1970s, Pier 97 was used as a parking lot by the City of New York Department of Sanitation until 2011.

Hours: Open daily 6 AM - 1 AM

Backyard Oyster Roast
There are only five weeks until society tells you that it’s no longer socially acceptable to wear white and pumpkin spice is everywhere. So it’s time to make the most of the next few weeks, and what better way to bask in the summer heat than stuffing your face with oysters and Aperol spritzes?

This Sunday, July 28, from noon to 4pm, The Noortwyck is hosting its second event for its Summer Series. The West Village American restaurant is pairing up with Popina, an Italian eatery, to bring you an “elevated oyster roast” and backyard barbecue. Popina, the host of the event, is right on the Columbia Waterfront in Cobble Hill, with a gorgeous view of the Manhattan skyline and a garden patio with lots of seating. It’s the recipe for a perfect summer’s Sunday in Brooklyn.

Highlights of Sunday’s offerings include Peeko Grilled Oysters with nduja butter, roasted Jimmy Nardello peppers with grilled carrots and spiced labneh and Elote with szechuan pepper and black lime. Alongside the buffet will be an extensive wine list, a Spritz bar by Aperol & Campari, live music and beer from Threes Brewing.

I had so much fun at Socarrat Paella Bar!
It felt like dining and partying in Barcelona while skipping the airfare.

The place is definitely built for a party—narrow, intimate, with great food. Flowing alcohol and impeccable service.

I had:
ENSALADA DE TOMATE HEIRLOOM Y BURRATA – GF $20
Burrata cheese, heirloom tomatoes, frisée, cucumber, tapenade, basil sherry vinaigrette

PULPO A LA GALLEGA – GF $24
Galician style sliced octopus, potato cubes, paprika oil, sea salt

CHULETAS DE CORDERO – GF $26
Marinated grilled lamb chops, olive pisto, olive oil & lemon Greek yogurt

SOCARRAT PAELLA – GF $34
Free-range bone-in chicken, chorizo, shrimp, white fish, squid, mussels, cockles, fava beans, peppers, tomato sofrito

And finished it all with:

TORRIJA CARAMELIZADA – $14
Caramelized milk-infused brioche, lemon curd, strawberries, vanilla ice cream

I washed it all down with a great red Spanish wine. A total Spanish celebration. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Highly recommend 💎💎💎

Feast of Fun 🇮🇹
The feast is back! The San Gennaro festival returns again on the 12th of September to the streets of Little Italy. This marks its 98th year.

Come hungry! This 10-day celebration is NYC’s most popular and longest running street fairs, and is well known for its delicious food and party atmosphere. The celebration includes parades and processions, live musical entertainment, carnival games, rides, and amusements, food delicacies, and most importantly, dining at Little Italy’s famous restaurants and cafes.

WHEN: ⏰Thursday September 12 through Sunday September 22. FREE to walk the festival. Food and carnival rides have a fee. (Bring cash!)

DONT MISS: 📕The Grand Procession parade featuring marching bands, floats, revelers and the statue of San Gennaro. The parade happens on Sept 14th at 2pm.

FOR KIDS: 🎈After you fill those bellies, head over to the carnival rides and games that are set up specifically for the event. There are typically 4-5 rides offered. Rides change slightly each year, but there is always a Ferris wheel! Visit at night to see the Ferris wheel glow in rainbow hues.

Summer Thursdays are the new Summer Fridays, thanks to a weekly pop-up series in The Meat Hook’s backyard.
Pick a Thursday to play hooky at the McCarren Park pool and eat some BBQ afterwards.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! See you in the backyard!!!!
