Queens Night Market Runs every Saturday It’s hard to get good food on the cheap, but for seven years, Queens Night Market has prided itself on offering the city’s best eats for just $5-6. The foodie festival runs on Saturday nights through the summer at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. New this year: The event will open at 4pm, an hour earlier than it has in the past and will include even more vendors than usual. There will also be other items sale besides food, including vintage apparel, handmade jewelry, ceramic products, locally produced art pieces, crochet toys, stationery, and much more. In its existence, the market has attracted over 2 million visitors, helped launch 350 new businesses in New York and represented more than 90 countries through its vendors and their food. In 2022, the event averaged over 15,000 attendees each Saturday night.

Step Into Hopper activation NYC! Some paintings have the power to make art come alive, but a new activation this week will truly make brushstrokes jump off the canvas. In honor of the late American painter Edward Hopper's birthday (he would be 142 years old!), the Meatpacking District is hosting a series of 3-D interactive painting installations that you can become a part of. The free event, titled "Step Into Hopper" pays homage to three of the artist's renowned works from July 19 through July 22 in Gansevoort Plaza. In this first-of-its-kind event, see life-size re-creations of “Nighthawks,” “Soir Bleu,” and “Early Sunday Morning.” You’ll be able to pose with these recognizable works and create your own interpretations of the art with the help of live performers. Activities begin at 1pm on Friday, July 19, then run all day Saturday-Monday, before wrapping up at 5pm on Tuesday, July 23.

Nanchang dry rice noodles at We Noodle Some new noodles in town originated in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi, an inland province northwest of Fujian and southwest of Shanghai: The area is known for the high quality of its rice, so don’t be surprised that this dish ($12) features delicate rice noodles slicked with sesame oil laced with ginger, garlic, and chiles. Heaped on top, there’s ground pork, roasted peanuts, and scallions, for a distinctively flavored bowl of noodles. Other characteristic Nanchang dishes found at We Noodle, just north of Baruch College in Curry Hill, include soups with beef tripe or pig intestines, and stir-fried noodles with tomatoes and eggs.

Xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung Someone’s gotta do it: My best dish of the week comes from Din Tai Fung, the mammoth Midtown location that opened last week. Seating over 400 people at 135 tables, it’s a vast addition to city’s Taiwanese restaurant landscape. I especially loved the restaurant’s savory and delicate soup dumplings ($18 to $22), famously made with 18 folds (or 20, depending who you ask) stuffed with pork, chicken, or crab. I went to the original in Taipei in 2019 and when I tasted them a few days ago, they were like eating a memory.

With enough room to fit almost thousand guests, and stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the Empire State, it's easy to understand what draws crowds to this impressive destination. 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with comfy lounge sofas and dining tables making up most of the furnishings. The indoor lounge is fully enclosed with floor to ceiling windows, which gives you uninterrupted views of the city. The rooftop menu features a wide selection of food and drinks, such as beer, wines, and cocktails, both classic and signature. The food selection covers bar bites and full-fledged meals, like salmon, fish & chips, burgers, and a sizeable sushi selection. There's also a delicious and highly popular weekend rooftop brunch, served between 11.30am to 4pm. Reservations to the 230 Fifth aren't necessary, as walk-ins are accepted, but we recommend them if you're trying to score a spot at the brunch buffet. The 230 Fifth is open year-round, as it offers enormous umbrellas during the summer, and outside heaters for cold nights. Come winter, the 230 Fifth transforms into a winter wonderland, with rooftop igloos, and hot drinks popping up for the coldest season of the year.

The Cantor Roof Garden Bar is located on top of one of the world's most famous museums: The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum itself is, of course, a thing of beauty, located smack in the middle of Central Park and giving visitors access to beautiful works of art. The Cantor doesn't fall far behind, as it offers stunning views of the park and the surrounding skyscrapers, as well as a large and lush rooftop garden with park benches and comfortable tables to sit at. You can also sit down on the lawn if you're so inclined. Wine by the glass, house-made lemonade and specialty cocktails make up the drink menu, but you can also find sandwiches and salads in case you get hungry. Open during the warmer months, access to the rooftop is available to all museum visitors. And filled with a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere, it is a great spot to bring children and enjoy the lush views.

Located just above the Italian megastore Eataly, SERRA operates both as a bar and a restaurant, offering a relaxing and charming environment and a fantastic culinary experience. While the views aren't amazing, as SERRA is an enclosed terrace, the garden-like atmosphere more than makes up for it, as you can enjoy a delicious meal in a veritable urban oasis. SERRA's greenhouse-like atmosphere is complemented by the restaurant's rustic furnishings, as well as its signature botanic-infused cocktails and cozy ambiance. Up here, you can enjoy down to earth Italian dishes, delicious wines, craft beers, classic cocktails, and even handmade lemonades, with the menus changing by the season. Open for lunch and dinner, SERRA does not offer a special kids menu, but as long as the younger part of the family are into Italian food, a visit here is bound to be a success. Especially during the day, when the atmosphere is more casual.

If you’re in NYC, be sure to check out the Vessel sculpture - it’s an iconic piece of modern architecture and a must-see destination! 🫶🏼🤍 Vessel is a structure and visitor attraction built as part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Built to plans by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick, the elaborate honeycomb-like structure rises 16 stories and consists of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings for visitors to climb. Vessel is the main feature of the 5-acre (2.0 ha) Hudson Yards Public Square. Funded by Hudson Yards developer Related Companies, its final cost is estimated to have been $200 million.

One of my favorite Japanese cafes in Greenpoint, ACRE. Came for lunch one afternoon weeks ago (when we were still wearing coats!) and had such a good meal in their unassuming cafe in the back of the store. They serve coffee and housemade pastries out in the front and healthy yet hearty Japanese meals in the back. I love their bento boxes for lunch and it’s definitely one of my favorite Greenpoint hidden gems.
