PIER 97 is NOW OPEN at Hudson River Park: New York City’s newest recreational and lounging green space!!! Designed by !melk, Pier 97 features a playground with water spray features, a synthetic turf field, a sloping sun lawn, sculptural shade structures, an elevated walkway with seating, an “all-ages” slide and a sunset deck complete with bistro tables, chaise lounges and two-tiered walls with seating. The pier also features flexible gathering areas surrounded by flowers and plants to provide space for organized or impromptu events. History: Hudson River Park’s northernmost pier was built between 1921 and 1934, and then served for decades as the hub for the Swedish America Line. While it remained an active dock through the 1970s, Pier 97 was used as a parking lot by the City of New York Department of Sanitation until 2011. Hours: Open daily 6 AM - 1 AM 📍 Access through West 57th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City

Discover Local Fun Spots in Greenwich Village
Nestled within the heart of New York City, Greenwich Village boasts a vibrant mix of culture, history, and modern entertainment. The chic neighborhood, often referred to simply as "The Village," is a hotbed for trending activities and community events. You can stroll along its picturesque streets, lined with charming brownstones, and discover local secrets shared by those who know the neighborhood best. Here's your ultimate guide to local fun spots and entertainment in Greenwich Village.
Uncover Art and Culture
Greenwich Village is an art lover’s paradise, home to numerous galleries and cultural landmarks. Don't miss the small yet impactful galleries such as the Aicon Gallery, which focuses on contemporary Asian art, or the highly acclaimed Westbeth Gallery, known for its cutting-edge exhibitions. The Village Vanguard, an iconic jazz club, offers show-stopping performances that have been a staple of the community since 1935. Locals often recommend catching a show at The Cherry Lane Theatre, the city’s oldest continuously running Off-Broadway theatre, showcasing innovative playwrights and directors.
Engage in Trending Activities
For those seeking trending activities, renting a bike and cycling along the Hudson River Greenway is a must. It provides breathtaking views of the waterfront and a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. You can also partake in a unique blend of yoga and paddleboarding at Hudson River Park, where the aquatic environment adds an extra layer of tranquility. If you’re into more adrenaline-pumping fun, The Fat Cat NYC offers engaging indoor games like ping pong, billiards, and shuffleboard in an underground setting sure to thrill every visitor.
Dive into Vibrant Community Nightlife
Greenwich Village’s nightlife is legendary, attracting both locals and visitors looking to socialize and unwind. If you’re looking for a fun, community-oriented spot, The Blind Tiger Ale House is renowned for its rotating selection of craft beers and inviting atmosphere. For a more electric vibe, NYC locals often flock to The Jane Hotel Ballroom, a historic venue-turned-must-visit nightclub with fantastic DJs and a dancefloor that’s always packed. For a low-key evening, The White Horse Tavern, one of the city’s oldest pubs, offers a cozy spot to enjoy a drink and chat with both newcomers and regulars.
Exciting Events to Attend
Greenwich Village is consistently buzzing with events that reflect its dynamic community. One of the most cherished local traditions is the annual Village Halloween Parade, a spectacular celebration that draws hundreds of participants donning imaginative costumes and displaying creative floats. During the warmer months, Washington Square Park transitions into a hub for outdoor concerts, performance artists, and impromptu dance parties. Locals also rave about Wine and Cheese Sundays at The Grey Dog café—a perfect blend of socializing, relaxation, and indulgence in local flavors.
Explore Hidden Gems
Beyond the popular spots, Greenwich Village conceals many lesser-known treasures waiting to be discovered. Caffe Reggio, known to be the birthplace of the American cappuccino, is an ideal place to sip an authentic espresso while admiring its antique decor. The Gardens at St. Luke in the Fields provide a serene green space for reflection, away from the busy city streets. Book lovers should drop by the Three Lives & Company bookstore, a cozy nook teeming with literary wonders and frequented by community writers and readers.
For fresh and local fare, head to the Union Square Greenmarket, frequented by chefs and foodies alike. Here, you can find a variety of organic produce, artisanal cheeses, and freshly baked goods, perfect for a picnic in any of Greenwich Village’s charming parks.
