Elcielo, Brickell: If you’re looking to take your loved one on a unique, fine dinner date then this Michelin-starred restaurant is the way to go. Chef Juan Manuel Barriento’s innovative cuisine is inspired by his Colombian roots and molecular gastronomy featuring exciting plates with bold flavors. They serve a 21-course dinner, so we suggest going with an empty stomach and let yourself be guided by your waiter for an exciting and surprising dining experience.

The Restaurant Guide
Hiyakawa: Cool modern Japanese restaurant with great design and amazing sushi. Rooted in tradition that blends an unwavering dedication to craft with a devotion to the world’s finest ingredients to present an experience like no other. Their focus is simplicity, seasonality, and kikubari, the Japanese art of caring for others by flawlessly anticipating their needs. They use time-honored practices to prepare no more than 50 meals a night composed with seasonal ingredients from boutique purveyors and growers. From the aged soy sauces to fresh wasabi, nothing is overlooked. The kitchen uses such traditional techniques as agemono, yakimono, nimono, and tsukemono to offer complete, balanced meals alongside omakase progressions tuned to seasonality.

Coconut Grove Farmers’ Market The Coconut Grove Farmers Market is probably Miami’s most well-known. Every Saturday, Homestead's Glaser Organic Farms transforms an unoccupied corner of Coconut Grove into a full-fledged produce market with dozens of fruit and vegetable stands, a raw bar featuring prepared foods and salads and coolers filled with cold-pressed juices and nut mylks. There’s even velvety vegan ice cream for sale and several rows of picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy your bounty. Along its periphery, you’ll find other local vendors selling honey, homemade soaps, handmade jewelry and other artisanal items. And the setup and breakdown are so fascinating to watch! Much like the circus leaving town, everyone quickly dismantles their tents and packs up just after sunset, leaving no trace of the bustling day on the empty gravel lot. 3300 Grand Ave, on the corner of Margaret St and Grand Ave. When to go: Saturdays 10am–7pm, year-round

Dinner at Shimuja Ramen This Friday, July 26, find us slurping away at Shimuja Ramen, a beloved South Florida gem. Since opening its doors in Miami in 2018, Shimuja Ramen has quickly become a local favorite, earning the title of “Best Ramen Shop in Miami 2024” from The Miami New Times. Originally founded in Kagoshima City, Japan, in 2011, Shimuja Ramen brings its rich heritage to Miami through the culinary artistry of Chef and Owner Keiichi Maemura. Chef Maemura’s meticulous 13-hour pork-bone broth forms the heart of an extensive ramen menu that includes delicious vegetarian options. Shimuja Ramen is known for its richly flavored broths and fresh ingredients. Their standout dish, the Kagoshima Special, is a delightful combination of smoked pork belly, mixed vegetables, scallions, naruto, fried burdock, a soft-boiled egg, and thick wavy noodles. Other favorites like the Satsuma Tonkotsu and Tokyo Shoyu offer a more classic approach to authentic flavors straight from Japan. Don’t miss out on the quintessential Florida ramen either — the Key Lime, prepared with chicken slices, key lime juice, lettuce, red onion, scallion, thin straight noodles, and half soft boiled egg.

To find it, all you have to do is enter Red Rooster and head up the staircase covered in pictures of the famous and everyday people of Overtown in the ’60s and ’70s. That’s when you’ll spot the speakeasy’s stylish vintage decor, a pool table and a swell cocktail menu offering vintage-inspired concoctions.

Join us in Costa Med in Key Biscayne for a heartwarming and unforgettable dining experience. This cozy Mediterranean bistro serves up charming vibes, divine cuisine, and service that feels like a hug from an old friend. Seafood steals the show here, with the freshest local catch gracing your table. Kick off your meal with the acclaimed lobster ravioli, filled with 100 percent claw meat and smothered in the creamiest lobster sauce. Then, our suggestion is to share the butterflied Greek-style branzino which comes grilled with salt, pepper, and oregano—simple perfection that allows the freshness of the fish to truly shine. All you need is the perfect drink pairing to elevate your sublime Saturday night dinner, and luckily Costa Med boasts the finest wine collection in Key Biscayne.

JAGUAR SUN Downtown Jaguar Sun is probably our favorite place in Miami. Some may say it’s a cocktail bar, others, a restaurant with an awesome pasta selection. We’d like to think of it as a combination of both. And there’s something about the vibe that makes you want to chat with the person next to you. Our favorite dishes include the Hokkaido Scallop, the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with the most delish charred leek aioli, Agnolotti with blue crab, and the Spicy Rigatoni. Make sure to ask if there are any new dishes or off-menu items, sometimes they’ll have something to share with you. Leave room for a Wolf Whistle, their version of a tequila espresso martini paired with dessert.

MIAMI’S BEST RESTAURANT WITH “AMBIENTE” Where the vibe is more important but the food is still good The iconic NYC staple, Pastis, expanded its presence from the Meatpacking District to the vibrant neighborhood of Wynwood. The restaurant stays true to its New York roots, offering the same menu filled with classic Parisian bistro-style dishes and an incredible ambiance that won’t make you feel like you’re in Miami. You’re heading here for a chic lunch or dinner and sitting at their gorgeous outdoor patio decorated with ceiling fans, red patio umbrellas, and twinkly lights. We’d start with some drinks (of course), if you’re a spritz person looking to relax, start your meal with their St. Tropez Spritz made with St. Germain, lemon, aperitif, sparkling wine, and strawberries. But if you’ve had a long day (or week) then kick off your meal with a tiny Le Petit Pickle martini. As for the food, we like to start with a few hors d’oeuvres for the table. We usually go for the Tuna Carpaccio with lemon vinaigrette, Escargots with garlic-parsley butter, Onion Soup, and Crispy Artichokes with garlic aioli. Moving on to the entrées we love their Chicken Paillard with almonds and picholine olives, and we always love to get an order of the Moules Frites with white wine and garlic for the table (don’t forget to dip the bread in the sauce). If you still have a little room, the grand finale is the airy Profiteroles, delicately filled with velvety smooth vanilla ice cream, and generously drizzled with warm chocolate sauce.

Stop by Amal, when you’re in the mood to dress up. The menu focuses on modern Lebanese dishes created by Chef Wissman Baki. This is a great spot to send your Mom with her group of amigas chismositas, because it’s one of those restaurants where you want to picar y probar un poquito de todo! Think dips, cold and hot mezze, skewers, and more. Plus, they can continue their salidita with a few drinks after their meal at its rooftop bar, Level6. The space is so freaking gorgeous. We honestly wouldn’t mind our house looking like this. Imagine, sandy interiors with earth tones like rose and terracotta. They’ve also incorporated small palm trees throughout the restaurant to give it a touch of Miami. We could live here because it’s so pretty but also because the food is fresh and tasty.

Wynwood Graffiti Golf Cart Tour + Graffiti Painting Experience Have you ever felt the draw of graffiti? Are you inspired by the gorgeous street art murals in Wynwood? Then sign up for our Wynwood Graffiti Experience and see if you have a future in street art! We will not be defacing any property or do anything illegal. Classes include all materials—spray paint, gloves, apron, and mask. When you arrive at the Wynwood Graffiti Experience, we will be set up for your lesson in our parking lot in front of the Wynwood Art Walk store. We paint on large canvas stretched onto wooden panels. First, we start with the very basics: how to hold, angle and handle the spray can and manipulate the pressure and length of the spray to paint dots of different sizes, lines of different widths, and to write letters. Then we move on to some more complex skills, like creating a drop shadow, making backgrounds and patterns, or even doing a color gradient. Masks and gloves will be on hand for personal protection. Although we rarely have issues with ruining clothes, and guests will be given aprons, it is best to come in something comfortable that you won’t mind having a few paint dots on. After learning a variety of skills, you will have time to experiment on your own and compose an artwork of your design. Our facilitator will be there to give guidance and tips, and to answer questions while working alongside you.
