Miami Beach Launches New Water Taxi Service to the Magic City!
Еhe City of Miami Beach and Poseidon Ferry will launch a new one-year water taxi pilot program to transport passengers between Miami Beach and Miami — aiming to ease traffic congestion between the two cities. The service will begin at the north side of Maurice Gibb Memorial Park (18 Street and Purdy Avenue, Miami Beach) and end at the Venetian Marina & Yacht Club (1635 N Bayshore Drive, Miami).

The purpose of this cross-bay water taxi service is to provide commuters with a public transportation option to help decongest our roadways and help the city meet its long-term strategic goal of becoming less car-centricю

The water taxi will operate daily from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. except during the hours of 2-3 p.m. to accommodate a shift change. The vessel will depart from Maurice Gibb Memorial Park every hour on the half hour commencing at 7:30 a.m. and will depart the Venetian Marina & Yacht Club every hour on the hour starting at 8 a.m. The trip takes approximately 18 minutes each way.

Miami's Faena Theater has put a fresh spin on its avant-garde cabaret, “Allura,” with a new performance titled “Ascension.”
Futurism, fashion, seduction, and high-performance technology all converge into an ethereal and exhilarating voyage through the infinite paths of space and time existing all at once and coming to life right on the Faena Theater stage.

New York singer Rocky Lanes stars as master of ceremonies, leading showgoers through a series of spicy vignettes with aerial acts, acrobats, killer live music and a hint of naughty antics.

“Ascension” shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Get there early to check out Faena’s incredible public art, including murals by Argentinian artist Juan Gatti and Damien Hirst’s famous wooly mammoth.

Lincoln Road Farmers’ Market
Before big-name stores and theaters commanded Lincoln Road, the pedestrian mall was well known for its weekend farmers market. Over the years, this small operation has grown from a few tables on the eastern end of the strip to a large fair that stretches nearly the entire length of the road.

Find produce, housewares, fresh-cut flowers and specialty items like artisanal bread and homemade jams available all throughout. Though open year-round, the farmers’ market is at its most magical when it coincides with the Lincoln Road Antiques & Collectibles Market, which happens every other Sunday between October and May.

When to go: Sundays 9am–6pm

Soak up the sun on a breezy rooftop of the Sugar, Brickell!

Nestled on the 40th floor of EAST Miami — making it the city’s highest rooftop bar — Sugar offers 360-views of Brickell paired with tasty cocktails and a swank crowd. Beware though — it’s quite popular so booking a table ahead of time, especially if you’ll be wanting something to eat, is highly recommended!

If you are looking for a secluded island in Miami to spend the day and disconnect, then here is one of my favorite spots!
The Picnic Islands are a small group of islands within the city of Miami. They are located just north of Biscayne Island in Biscayne Bay, just east offshore from the Edgewater and Upper Eastside districts of the city. The islands are uninhabited, but several of the group have beaches where boaters and picnickers frequent.

They are generally named for the mainland city parks that they are located next to in the bay. The southernmost one is Pace Picnic Island, located off Pace Park. There are also Morningside Picnic Islands Park and Legion Picnic Islands Park located directly off of Morningside Bayfront Park and Legion Park, respectively.

Fried food and cheat days are a match made in heaven, and CJ’s Crab Shack has your back with grouper fingers, fried popcorn shrimp, fried shrimp po’boys, and other classics.

Because portions are huge here, one dish at CJ’s Crab Shack is probably enough to fill you up. That said, why stop there? Other crowd-pleasers include the steak and shrimp, the crab cake dinner, the grouper in a bag, and—of course—the snow crab dinner. There’s also a full bar, so expect to be here for a while.

Art Deco Historic District Miami
Ice cream cone pastels, geometric lines and curves, chrome accents and decorative fountains are just a few characteristics that distinguish the iconic buildings of Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District.

Miami has the highest concentration of Art Deco buildings in the world, and their preservation has saved the South Beach skyline from becoming a canyon of condos. Amazingly, these buildings were nearly destroyed by developers in the early 1970s. Today, a number of the best Miami hotels, and even some South Beach clubs, have maintained their beautiful façades and historical designation.

Hello, I'm planning on visiting Miami in January for a rest/relaxation-type trip (not a partier; not a drinker). I'll be alone, and I'm a young Asian female (visiting from Canada). I'll be staying in South Beach. Should I be super concerned about safety as a solo female? I won't be out late at night, but I might have a couple of earlier mornings (~6AM) where I have to walk a few minutes to get somewhere. I keep to myself when I travel (not interested in meeting new people).

You’ve probably heard of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens before. But what do you think I meant when I said that its gardens were designed much like a home?

Well, Colombian-born architect, Diego Suarez, separated the garden into different sections and created a unique atmosphere to each location. That gave the feel of being like an outdoor home!

Some of these “rooms” included the Rose Garden, the Maze Garden, the Garden Mound, and more.
Make sure to visit Vizcaya, it is amazing Italian-inspired villa!
