Xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung Someone’s gotta do it: My best dish of the week comes from Din Tai Fung, the mammoth Midtown location that opened last week. Seating over 400 people at 135 tables, it’s a vast addition to city’s Taiwanese restaurant landscape. I especially loved the restaurant’s savory and delicate soup dumplings ($18 to $22), famously made with 18 folds (or 20, depending who you ask) stuffed with pork, chicken, or crab. I went to the original in Taipei in 2019 and when I tasted them a few days ago, they were like eating a memory.

Gorgeous Gilded Age mansions adorn the East 60s.🌞 I took a stroll in the neighborhood this past weekend, and all the blocks were pretty empty. Where was everyone? Their summer homes I guess. Regardless, it’s a lovely walk experiencing some of “old money” New York between 61st to 67th streets and Park to 2nd Ave.

While many organizations are offering free admission to programs and events, advance registration may be required.

Joe Allen It's definitely a staple and an iconic place. I love it half for the musical flop posters that are everywhere, because I always see one that I haven't seen before. It always starts conversations with people who happened to see the two-week runs of random shows that are on the walls and just feel super storied. It's become more theater fans than theater people over the years, but it's real theater fans. It tends to be people who are frequenting [shows]; it feels authentic. And the food, it's really yummy. I think it's a really good pre and post-show place, particularly family-wise. It's a really good, storied, New York, capital N, capital Y kind of spot.

Le Bernardin - The Most Expensive Tasting Menu In NYC... Are you a fan of fish? Do you like it when servers anticipate your every need as if they’ve been shadowing you since birth? If you answered yes to both of those questions, or even if you have a mild interest in seafood, plan a special meal at Le Bernardin. This famous seafood restaurant makes its diners feel special. Their eight-course tasting consists almost exclusively of impeccably prepared dover sole, langoustine, and other oceanic items swimming in fussy French sauces. Price: $325 Food is, obviously, the biggest factor, but we also considered service, atmosphere, and other little things that add to the experience.

WOW! I had an amazing experience at Chef Guo, a world-renowned expert in Chinese imperial cuisine. The chef invited me to the first tasting of his plant-based menu, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Servers with white gloves, a restaurant that felt more like a palace, and a meal where every item was a perfect celebration for the taste buds. All that with five different kinds of tea servings, a continuous aroma designed by the chef, and a dessert served in an eggshell. While I was the first to experience this meal, the chef hasn’t set a price for it yet, but it is planned to be very affordable. The plant-based tasting menu is planned to be available in October. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city, clearly a Michelin star-worthy restaurant.

The Cheapest Drinks In NYC: Jimmy's Corner We’d come to this classic Times Square dive even if it weren’t for the $3.50 well drinks. The walls have boxing memorabilia (the founder used to be a coach), a neon jukebox plays soul hits, and you can spot the long-time bartenders in photos on the laminated tables in the back room. And the drinks? Small and icy, but very effective.

Clara: Fun Place to Try in NYC Summer is a great time to catch up on your museum-going. While the next-door American Museum of Natural History will be mobbed, the New-York Historical Society is very often less crowded. The exhibit of New York paintings and the Tiffany lamp collection are unrivaled. And there’s a wonderful restaurant on the ground floor named Clara where you can linger over your burger or meal-size salad, and where the bloody marys are strong. There is even a seating area outside with a view of Central Park, and you don’t have to pay museum admissions if you go directly to the restaurant. 170 Central Park West, at 77th Street, Upper West Side
