The iconic Papaya King has reopened on the Upper East Side! Find it right across the street from its original location. The beloved, iconic, uber-popular and downright delicious Papaya King has officially reopened on the Upper East Side at 206 East 86 Street by Third Avenue, right across the street from the brand's original address, which shuttered to much dismay after the owners of the building filed plans to demolish it. The development, which was first reported by Upper East Site, has incited excitement all around town, with folks taking to social media to express their delight.

Richmond County Fair Grab the fam and head to Historic Richmond Town, a preserved museum village dating from the late 17th century, for its annual county fair. The Richmond County Fair, running from August 31-September 2, combines classic fairground festivities with a unique touch of Staten Island history, including signature demonstrations of historical trades by costumed interpreters. Play bingo, try a three-legged race, see aerial shows, be awed by stilt walkers, shop for local crafts, hear from storytellers and lots more. Plus, come hungry for fair fare like empanadas, lobster rolls, rice balls, funnel cakes and zeppoles. All the fun's for a good cause, as proceeds support Historic Richmond Town in its mission to preserve and share local history.

Essential Manhattan Bakery: Orwasher’s Bakery One of the Upper East Side’s longest continually running businesses, Orwasher’s was founded by a Hungarian family in 1916. Today, it’s run by baker Keith Cohen, whose starters are spiked with different types of wine or lager. The shop is best known for its rugelach, pumpernickel bread, spelt loaves, jelly doughnuts, and black-and-white cookies, but don’t miss the sticky-bun babka, chocolate croissants, seeded bagels, glazed doughnuts, turnovers, or cherry cheese strudel — it’s some of the best in the city.

Secret NYC
NYC’s First & Only Floating Mexican Restaurant Is Open La Barca Cantina offers Mexican fare and delicious cocktails afloat! For my birthday dinner, I chose to go to Momokawa, my favorite Japanese restaurant in the city. While somewhat hidden from the city’s sushi limelight, Momokawa provides a top-notch, holistic Japanese culinary experience. Led by its owner, Chef Mie Okuda, a Japanese holistic nutritionist, the restaurant follows her philosophy as stated on its website: “A great meal is not one that just fills you up. A great meal is a journey that returns you to sources of pleasure you may have forgotten, taking you to places you haven’t been before.” — Mie Okuda, Chef/Owner I had the sushi Omakase dinner and couldn’t be happier. The welcoming, warm hospitality, the great vibe, and the amazing food left me more than satisfied. Thanks, Chef Okuda. 💖🙏🏼💖

Sending you a whole Latte Love this Monday! 🍽Where I went: Remi Flower & Coffee ✔️What I got: Lavender Latte 💰What I paid: $5.50 ⠀ 🤔What I think: A couple months ago I went to Remi Flower & Coffee. I’m not someone who usually likes flavors added to my coffee but I really wanted to try either the lavender or the rose latte at Remi because it is their specialty. I ended up getting the lavender latte and was pleasantly surprised to find that the flavor of the lavender did not overpower the taste of the coffee itself. If you’re looking for a cute/aesthetic place to grab some coffee, I would definitely recommend checking this place out :)

Joe Allen It's definitely a staple and an iconic place. I love it half for the musical flop posters that are everywhere, because I always see one that I haven't seen before. It always starts conversations with people who happened to see the two-week runs of random shows that are on the walls and just feel super storied. It's become more theater fans than theater people over the years, but it's real theater fans. It tends to be people who are frequenting [shows]; it feels authentic. And the food, it's really yummy. I think it's a really good pre and post-show place, particularly family-wise. It's a really good, storied, New York, capital N, capital Y kind of spot.

The Cheapest Drinks In NYC: Jimmy's Corner We’d come to this classic Times Square dive even if it weren’t for the $3.50 well drinks. The walls have boxing memorabilia (the founder used to be a coach), a neon jukebox plays soul hits, and you can spot the long-time bartenders in photos on the laminated tables in the back room. And the drinks? Small and icy, but very effective.

CLASSIC ❗️ I had a fabulous evening at Empire Steakhouse, such a timeless establishment. The food was incredible—the steak literally melted in my mouth. The vibe was amazing, so classic that I almost expected Ol’ Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra, to walk in any minute… Every part of the meal was a masterclass in classic flavors, and the service was equally impeccable. A real class of its own 🌟

Ramen love with you ❤️ 🍽Where I went: Ichiran ✔️What I got: Classic Tonkotsu Ramen 💰What I paid: $18.90 ⠀ 🤔What I think: The setup of the restaurant in itself is extremely unique as they have individual booths where you have to order by filling out a form. They use this setup because they want the people who come to their restaurant to be able to focus on the flavor of the ramen without any distractions. Ichiran only serves tonkatsu ramen, and they've clearly mastered it. The broth is rich and perfectly seasoned, the pork is tender and tasty, the noodles are made to your texture preferences (here we went with firm), and of course the egg just adds an extra layer of flavor to the dish. Overall one of the better bowls of ramen you can get in NYC.

Xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung Someone’s gotta do it: My best dish of the week comes from Din Tai Fung, the mammoth Midtown location that opened last week. Seating over 400 people at 135 tables, it’s a vast addition to city’s Taiwanese restaurant landscape. I especially loved the restaurant’s savory and delicate soup dumplings ($18 to $22), famously made with 18 folds (or 20, depending who you ask) stuffed with pork, chicken, or crab. I went to the original in Taipei in 2019 and when I tasted them a few days ago, they were like eating a memory.
