In 2017, Army veterans Brandon Friedman and Terrence “TK” Kamauf made it their mission to source tea only from lands torn apart by war. Their leaves come from 10 countries, from Colombia to Bangladesh and many in between, an effort to help promote economic mobility. Noble, sure, but it helps that they’re damn good. YAY wagamamaUSA! Their first location in Texas is in Dallas! I’ve had wagamama many times before since I lived near one when I was in NYC. It’s a popular ramen shop from the UK with pan-Asian and Asian comfort food. I stopped by for their new menu, which includes the Ahi Tuna Nachos, Korean Fried Chicken Bao, Miso Sweet Potato Bao, Karaage Chicken Bao, and Chili Hoisin Duck Bao. They also have sake-based cocktails with SOTO sake: Vietnamese Espresso Martini, Matcha Mule, and Passion Fruit Paloma. Tag a friend you’d like to go with! FYI - There’s free parking! They can validate parking for 2.5 hours in the building garage.

🍕 SLIDERS, SHAKES & SLICES (including boozy shakes for 21+!) for the whole fam in Grand Prairie at SERIOUS EATS 🍕 Located in EpicCentral, Serious Eats is a yummy spot for a bite with the fam. 🍕 Order at kiosks and your name is called when your food is ready. 🍕 Choose from monster slices of pizza, sliders, fries, tots and onion rings. Be sure to save room for a gourmet shake! (You just need one- it’s enough for 2 or 3 people!) 🍕 Full bar available along with boozy shakes for anyone 21 and over (I loved the Vincent Vega shake- YUM!). 🍕 Indoor & outdoor seating available, but you may have to wait a bit during busy times for a seat inside (we did!). 🍕 This spot is located next to the new climbing gym at EpicCentral so kids can play before or after they eat. 🍕 Sit outside & you can watch the Illuvia water & light show while you dine! 🍕 Pro Tip: the pizza slices are big enough that you’ll be full with one but the sliders are small so you may want two! Have you tried Serious Eats yet?

Spot the Fountain Show at Klyde Warren Park Whether you’re playing with your furbaby in the dog park, grabbing a bite from one of the food trucks, or attending a Saturday morning fitness class, there’s plenty to do at Klyde Warren Park. Klyde Warren Park was designed by award-winning landscape architect Jim Burnett, principal of The Office of James Burnett. His design created a sense of discovery when moving from “room” to “room” throughout the 5.4-acre Park. The sustainable landscaping includes 37 native and non-native plant species and 247 trees, transforming a former freeway to a beautiful urban oasis. While away the afternoon on the lawn, and don’t miss the Nancy Best Fountain show at 12:04 p.m. and 7 p.m. every day.

Ookuma Japanese Burger Crispy breaded chicken, a fistful of pickles, and a blanket of tartar sauce are all this burger needs. As I wrote previously, you can’t eat the burger without a mountain of napkins, thanks to the housemade tartar sauce loaded with chopped egg. Miraculously, the fried chicken stays crisp underneath. It’s a creamy summer delight, which is good, since seating here is in the great (shaded) outdoors.

10/10! This was such a fun experience! 🙌🏾💐 Pur Noire is a black owned urban winery that just opened its second location in Dallas! The first location is in Houston, so this is a great activity if you’re in either city! ✨ The vibe is elevated but still relaxed, so it’s a great spot to unwind or meet a friend! You can grab a glass to sip or do a customized tasting to try a few different wines! They also have a free wine club for true wine lovers! This gets you exclusive perks, like access to the members only tasting room, and discounts on bottles, events, etc! I definitely recommend! 💕

The pool in Omni Dallas Hotel, located in the center of downtown Dallas, offers a year round oasis to all hotel guests. Take a swim in the heated infinity swimming pool, sip a cocktail by the seasonal fire pit or work on your tan in one of the lounge chairs, all while overlooking downtown Dallas. During summer months, The Uptown Terrace Pool Bar & Grill and infinity pool is only open to registered guests of the hotel. But during winter months, non-hotel guests can get access with day passes Sunday to Thursday.

Local Tap And Table is a Cajun restaurant in Dallas that sits on the Katy Trail. Most people know it for brunch, but they also have a really great dinner menu and a good vibe during the week! 🥂 They also launched new food items, and as always, everything was spot on. Some of my favorites were: 🦞 Fried Crawfish Ravioli 🍝 Pontchartrain Pasta 🥖 Crawfish Bread 🍜 Birria Ramen 🍹 Bacardi Mango Chile Fever Parking is free during the week! There’s a run club called runitup that meets here on Tuesdays! It’s free to join, but it does get packed, so if you want a more chill vibe, come any other day during the week! ✨

Various Small Fires After establishing itself as a Los Angeles staple for the last 12 years, Various Small Fires opened its third location in Dallas in 2022. For owner Esther Kim Varet, a Trinity Christian Academy alum, this was a sort of homecoming. Varet, who is Korean, opened her second location in Seoul in 2019. That move proved to be savvy, as the international art fair, Frieze, now has an annual event there. The small downtown Dallas storefront brings a more global sensibility to the city’s curatorial makeup. This is a good place to take the pulse of the broader art market. A lot of the artists VSF has represented go on to be art stars.

Best Dallas Korean food: Koryo Korean BBQ Keeping its hard-won charm after a glam redesign, Koryo lets you choose your own adventure: go for a grill-it barbecue extravaganza, including meats dry-aged on-site, or keep it conventional with comforting winter soups and excellent hot stone bibimbap. The banchan are some of the best and most numerous in Dallas.

I definitely get why people really like this spot! 🔥 JOA GRILL is a top notch Korean BBQ spot in Dallas that really surprised me when I went! The food, drinks, and vibes were excellent and it was perfect for a nice date night! ✨ This is an elevated Korean BBQ concept, so your server cooks you meats for you (if you’d like) and they have a nice menu of specialty items to go with your main course! 🙌🏾 If you like Korean BBQ, then I recommend trying the TASTE OF JOA. It’s made for 2 people and comes with plenty of meats to share! 🥩 If you want something other than Korean BBQ, I highly recommend the OCTOPUS & the MUSSELS! They were both amazing! 🔥 This is a great spot for date night or a fun group dinner! It’s really a gorgeous spot! 🙌🏾
